Battle of Noheji

Significance

The Battle of Noheji was a minor engagement of the Boshin War fought on November 7, 1868, considered part of the larger Aizu campaign. The Domaine de Hirosaki committed 180 troops against an Ōuetsu Reppan Dōmei force of approximately 400. No outcome or casualty figures are recorded, limiting assessment of its operational effect, though its designation as an Aomori Prefectural Historic Site in 1976 reflects its recognized place in the regional memory of the Meiji Restoration conflict.
