Battle of Glina

Overview

The Battle for Glina was an armed conflict between a Knindža unit supported by the JNA against the joint forces of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Croatia and the Croatian Army. Two battles were fought in Glina and both ended in serbian victories as they managed to capture of the police station, which became part of SAO Krajina.

Significance

The Battle of Glina was part of the early armed contests over territory in Croatia following the declaration of independence. Knindža forces supported by the JNA engaged Croatian Ministry of Internal Affairs and Croatian Army units in two engagements at Glina, both resulting in Serbian victories. The capture of the police station was the concrete outcome, and Glina subsequently came under SAO Krajina control. These engagements were part of the broader Serbian effort to consolidate the SAO Krajina enclave in the opening phase of the Croatian War of Independence.
