Significance

The Battle of Talladega was an engagement between the Tennessee Militia under Andrew Jackson and John Coffee and Red Stick Creek forces under William Weatherford during the Creek War of 1813–1814. It was fought in the vicinity of present-day Talladega, Alabama. The overview provides limited operational detail, but the engagement formed part of Jackson's broader campaign against the Red Stick faction of the Creek Nation in what is now Alabama. This campaign would ultimately culminate in the suppression of the Red Stick resistance and significant cession of Creek lands.
