The Battle of Blumenau, also known as the Battle of Lamač, was the final engagement of the Austro-Prussian War, fought on 22 July 1866. Commanded by Eduard von Fransecky on the Prussian side and Karl von Thun und Hohenstein for Austria, the battle saw Austrian forces in a defensive posture against a Prussian advance. Austrian casualties of 489 against Prussian losses of 207 underscored the asymmetry that had characterized the broader conflict. As the last action of the war, Blumenau marked the close of Prussian military operations before the peace settlement that followed the decisive campaigning of the preceding weeks.
