Significance

The Battle of Albulena was fought on 2 September 1457 between the League of Lezhë under Skanderbeg and an Ottoman force under Ishak Bey and Hamza Kastrioti, the latter being Skanderbeg's own nephew fighting for the opposing side. The engagement placed a force of 8,000–10,000 Albanian troops against an Ottoman army estimated at 50,000–80,000. Ottoman casualties are recorded at 15,000, indicating the scale of the defeat inflicted on a force that substantially outnumbered the League of Lezhë.
