Trajan's Dacian Wars

Domitian's Dacian War was a conflict between the Roman Empire and the Dacian Kingdom fought during the reign of Emperor Domitian, spanning 85–89 AD. It was initiated by a Dacian invasion of the Roman province of Moesia, drawing in commanders on the Roman side including Oppius Sabinus, Cornelius Fuscus, and Tettius Julianus, against the Dacian king Decebalus. The war forms part of the broader history of Roman–Dacian conflict that culminated in Trajan's Dacian Wars of 101–106 AD, which ultimately resulted in the conquest of the Dacian Kingdom. Domitian's earlier war thus established the contested relationship between Rome and Decebalus that Trajan would later resolve through direct military subjugation.
