Lamian War

The Battle of Crannon was the decisive engagement of the Lamian War, fought between the Macedonian forces under Antipater and Craterus and a Greek coalition that included Athens and the Aetolian League, commanded by Antiphilos and Menon. Although the Macedonian victory was described as militarily unspectacular, its political consequences were decisive: the result convinced the remaining Greek coalition members to sue for peace, effectively ending the Greek attempt to break free of Macedonian dominance following the death of Alexander. The battle thus concluded the Lamian War in favor of the Macedonian Empire and foreclosed the prospect of a resurgent independent Greek resistance.
