The Siege of Aleppo on 1 August 637 was part of the Rashidun Caliphate's broader Muslim conquest of the Levant, a campaign that systematically extended Arab Muslim authority over former Byzantine-controlled Syria. The operation was conducted under the joint command of Khalid ibn al-Walid and Abu Ubaidah ibn al-Jarrah, two of the principal commanders of the Levantine campaign, with a recorded Rashidun force of 17,000.
