Significance

The Second Battle of Idlib was a rebel offensive operation targeting Syrian government forces holding Idlib city in the Idlib Governorate. The operation was conducted by the Army of Conquest, a coalition force estimated between 3,000 and 6,000 fighters, against government defensive positions. The engagement formed part of the broader contest for control of northwestern Syria during the civil war, with Idlib city representing a significant urban and administrative center in the governorate. The Army of Conquest sustained 132 casualties in the course of the operation.
