The Fall of Hīt was the capture of the important Iraqi town of Hīt by IS, which cut off the road leading to nearby Haditha.

Significance

The capture of Hīt by the Islamic State severed the road connecting Hīt to the nearby town of Haditha, isolating Haditha and complicating Iraqi government efforts to maintain supply and reinforcement lines in Anbar Province. The loss of Hīt represented a consolidation of IS territorial control in western Iraq during the broader 2014–2017 civil war, extending the group's grip over strategically positioned towns along key routes in the Euphrates River valley.
