Battle of Nitzanim

Significance

The Battle of Nitzanim represented the first major Egyptian victory of the 1948 Arab–Israeli War and stands as one of the rare instances of Israeli forces surrendering during the conflict. Israel recorded 105 casualties in the engagement. The outcome demonstrated that Egyptian forces were capable of decisive offensive action against Israeli positions, providing Egypt with a significant early success in the war.
