Significance

The Battle of Domokos was an Ottoman victory over Greek forces in the Greco-Turkish War of 1897, fought between an Ottoman force of approximately 45,000 and a Greek force of approximately 40,000. The outcome proved consequential beyond the battlefield: the scale of the defeat prompted European powers to intervene diplomatically on behalf of Greece, halting further Ottoman advances into Greek territory.
