Significance
The January 2022 Houthi strike on Abu Dhabi marked a significant escalation in the Yemeni Civil War, extending the conflict's reach directly into the territory of a leading member of the Saudi-led coalition. By targeting oil tanker trucks and airport construction infrastructure in Abu Dhabi, the Houthi movement demonstrated a capacity and willingness to strike civilian and economic targets deep inside the UAE.
