Profile

Reuben Frank Bernard was a career officer in the United States Army. A veteran of the American Civil War and the American Indian Wars, he served from 1855 to 1896. Bernard attained the rank of lieutenant colonel during his career and was promoted to brigadier general by brevet in recognition of heroism and sustained superior service. After retiring, Bernard was appointed deputy governor of the U.S. Soldiers' Home.
