The siege of Lisbon brought the city under definitive control of the Kingdom of Portugal, wresting it from the Almoravid dynasty after a siege lasting from 1 July to 25 October 1147. The operation was a foundational military achievement for the nascent Portuguese kingdom under Afonso I, consolidating Christian authority over one of the Iberian Peninsula's most strategically significant cities.
