Operation Paraquet was the British operation to retake South Georgia from Argentine forces in April 1982, at the opening phase of the Falklands War. The recapture of South Georgia marked the first British military success of the conflict and re-established a British foothold in the South Atlantic following Argentina's seizure of the island.
