Operation Kraai was one of two major Dutch military offensives conducted during the Indonesian National Revolution, the other being Operation Product; together they are referred to as the Police Actions. Launched in December 1948 after negotiations between the Netherlands and the Republican government collapsed, the operation represented a Dutch decision to resolve the conflict through military force rather than diplomacy. As one of only two large-scale offensives the Netherlands mounted during the revolution, Operation Kraai occupied a central place in the broader contest over Indonesian independence, marking a significant escalation at a critical juncture of the war.
