Capture of Lachin

Overview

The Battle of Lachin was a military operation during the First Nagorno-Karabakh War, undertaken by the National Army of Azerbaijan in order to regain control over the Lachin corridor, controlled by the army of the unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) since 18 May 1992. It was one of the fiercest battles in this direction that unfolded in the autumn of that year.

Significance

The Battle of Lachin was an Azerbaijani military operation during the First Nagorno-Karabakh War aimed at recapturing the Lachin corridor, which had been under the control of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic's forces since 18 May 1992. The corridor held strategic importance as the primary land link between Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh, making its control a central objective for both sides.
