The Battle of Valkeala, fought in April 1790 in Kymenlaakso in Southern Finland, resulted in a Swedish victory during the final phase of Gustav III's Russian War. The engagement occurred with roughly equal forces on both sides, each fielding approximately 3,000 troops. Swedish casualties of 137 suggest the fighting was contested, though the outcome favored Gustav III's forces. Coming late in a war that would conclude with the Treaty of Värälä in August 1790, the battle contributed to Swedish operational pressure on Russian positions in Finland during the campaign's closing stages.
