The Battle of Tiger Hill was a central engagement of the Kargil War, fought in and around the Tiger Hill peak from the final week of May through the second week of June 1999. Conducted alongside the concurrent battle for the adjoining peak of Tololing, the fighting culminated in Indian forces capturing Tiger Hill. The seizure of the Tiger Hill area, which includes Point 5100, represented a significant operational gain, as control of such dominant high-altitude terrain directly affected the balance of positions along this sector of the conflict. Together with Tololing — whose peaks include Point 5140 and Point 4875 — the Tiger Hill battles formed a linked effort to dislodge Pakistani forces from commanding ground during the broader Kargil campaign.
