The Battle of the Tokhtamysh River, fought on September 30, 1790, resulted in a major Russian victory against a combined Ottoman and North Caucasian force that outnumbered the Russian army by roughly seven to one. The capture of the Ottoman commander Batal Hussein Pasha was the battle's most consequential outcome, depriving the Ottoman-North Caucasian alliance of its senior leadership and contributing to the broader Russian strategic advantage in the Seventh Russo-Turkish War.
