The Battle of the Chinese Farm was fought between October 15 and October 17, 1973, in the Sinai Peninsula north of the Great Bitter Lake and just east of the Suez Canal, as part of the Yom Kippur War. The fighting centered on an Egyptian agricultural research station that Israeli forces had misidentified as the Chinese Farm after mistaking Japanese writing on the station's machinery for Chinese. The engagement placed Israeli and Egyptian forces in direct contest over a strategically situated piece of ground in close proximity to the Suez Canal corridor.
