Battle context

The Battle of Rumani Coast was an early naval engagement of the War of Attrition, occurring in July 1967 shortly after the Six-Day War. Israeli naval forces intercepted Egyptian motor torpedo boats near Rumani and sank both vessels without sustaining losses. The engagement demonstrated Israeli naval capability in coastal waters and signaled that the conflict extending from the 1967 war would be contested at sea as well as along the Suez Canal front.
