The Battle of Pulang Lupa, fought on September 13, 1900, during the Philippine–American War, resulted in a defeat of American forces under Devereux Shields by Filipino troops commanded by Colonel Maximo Abad. The engagement took place in the context of the broader U.S. Army campaign on the island of Marinduque, a campaign that Governor-General William Howard Taft later acknowledged carried conduct that would not withstand full public scrutiny.
