Battle context

The Battle of Pablo Pérez was an engagement in Cerro Largo between a Luso-Brazilian force under Bernardo da Silveira and Artiguist forces under Fernando Otorgués. The encounter ended in a victory for the Federal League, representing a check on Portuguese-Brazilian advances into the Banda Oriental during the broader conquest campaign of 1816–1820. While the battle's wider operational consequences are not fully recorded, a Luso-Brazilian force of some 2,000 engaged and was defeated, demonstrating that Artiguist resistance under Otorgués remained capable of contesting territory in the eastern interior of the region.
