The Battle of La Flèche was fought during the War in the Vendée, the royalist and Catholic insurrection against the French Republic that erupted in 1793. The engagement pitted a Republican force of 1,500–2,000 troops under Louis Chabot against a Catholic and Royal Army estimated at 15,000–20,000 under Henri de La Rochejaquelein, reflecting the severe numerical disparity that characterized much of the Vendéan conflict.
