The Battle of Kresna Gorge marked the final phase of Greek advances into Bulgarian territory during the Second Balkan War, bringing the active Greek offensive to a close before the ceasefire and subsequent peace treaty. Fought over eleven days across a 20 km front of forested mountain terrain, the engagement resulted in approximately 10,000 Greek casualties, underscoring the cost of the campaign's closing operations. The battle effectively defined the limit of Greek penetration into Bulgaria, and its conclusion coincided with the diplomatic settlement that ended the Second Balkan War.
