Battle context

The Battle of Koziatyn was a deep-penetration cavalry raid during the Polish–Soviet War, conducted approximately 160 kilometres behind the front line. Its principal outcome was the seizure of Korosten, a major railway hub and Red Army supply depot, which carried direct operational consequences for Soviet logistics in the theater. The capture was achieved with negligible Polish losses, while Russian SFSR casualties reached 8,000. By disrupting a key node in the Soviet supply network, the raid degraded the Red Army's capacity to sustain forward operations at a critical point in the war.
