The Battle of Khadki, fought on 5 November 1817 near present-day Khadki, India, was an early engagement of the Third Anglo-Maratha War in which East India Company forces achieved a decisive victory over the Maratha Confederacy despite facing odds of roughly nine to one. The outcome carried direct administrative consequences: Khadki was subsequently established as a British military cantonment, cementing Company control over the area and providing a permanent garrison presence in the region. The battle formed part of the broader collapse of Maratha resistance that the Third Anglo-Maratha War accelerated, and its result reinforced the Company's ability to project military power into the heart of the subcontinent.
