The Battle of Iminenas produced a decisive Franco-Malian victory against two jihadist groups — the Movement for Oneness and Jihad in West Africa (MUJAO) and Al-Mulathameen — during the broader French-led intervention in Mali begun in 2013. According to French and Malian government reporting, 52 Islamist fighters were killed with no government casualties, a lopsided outcome that reflected the operational pressure French forces and their Malian partners were applying to militant formations across northern Mali during this phase of the campaign.
