The Battle of Hedgeley Moor, fought on 25 April 1464 in Northumberland, was a Yorkist victory over a Lancastrian force during the Wars of the Roses. The engagement pitted John Neville, Lord Montagu, commanding a Yorkist army of approximately 6,000, against a Lancastrian force of around 5,000 under Henry Beaufort, Duke of Somerset, supported by Baron Ros, Baron Hungerford, and Ralph Percy. The battle took place north of the villages of Glanton and Powburn, situating it within the broader pattern of Lancastrian resistance in Northumberland that characterized this phase of the conflict. A Yorkist success here continued the erosion of Lancastrian capacity to hold territory and field organized opposition in the north of England during the mid-1460s.
