The Battle of Fundina was fought on St. Elijah's Day, a date of religious significance, during the Montenegrin–Ottoman War of 1876–78. The engagement pitted a Montenegrin force of approximately 4,100 men under Ilija Plamenac and Marko Miljanov Popović against an Ottoman force reported at 50,000, with Ottoman casualties recorded at around 10,000.
