The Battle of Fehrbellin, fought on June 18, 1675, was an engagement of the Scanian War in which Brandenburg-Prussian forces under Elector Frederick William and Feldmarschall Georg von Derfflinger repelled a Swedish invasion of Brandenburg. The Swedes under Count Waldemar von Wrangel had advanced into Brandenburg from Swedish Pomerania before being driven back near the town of Fehrbellin by a Brandenburg-Prussian force of 6,000–7,000 men against a Swedish strength of 7,000. Together with the Battle of Warsaw in 1656, Fehrbellin was pivotal in establishing the military prestige of Frederick William and cementing the reputation of the Brandenburg-Prussian army as a credible fighting force in northern European affairs.
