Battle context
The Battle of Delanggu on 28 August 1826 marked a Javanese rebel success during the Java War of 1825–1830, with Prince Diponegoro's forces capturing the town of Delanggu from its Dutch garrison. The Dutch were able to withdraw in good order, limiting the immediate operational gain, but the engagement demonstrated the continued capacity of Diponegoro's forces to press offensive action against Dutch-held positions in the field.
