The Battle of Castel di Sangro was a minor engagement of the Neapolitan War, fought in central Italy. The Neapolitan force, numbering roughly twice the strength of the opposing Austrian contingent, was routed, with casualties recorded between 206 and 400 men. The defeat contributed to the broader collapse of Joachim Murat's campaign against Austria, a conflict that ended with the destruction of Neapolitan resistance and the restoration of Bourbon rule over the Kingdom of Naples.
