The Battle of Carmen de Patagones was fought on March 7, 1827 near the town of Carmen de Patagones in southern Buenos Aires Province, bringing the Cisplatine War into Argentine territory itself. The engagement pitted local militias of the United Provinces of the Río de la Plata against forces of the Imperial Brazilian Navy under Joaquim M. Lisboa, marking one of the few instances in the conflict where Brazilian naval power was projected directly against a settlement on the Río de la Plata littoral. Brazilian casualties are not recorded, while United Provinces losses ranged between 100 and 580, reflecting significant uncertainty about the scale of the fighting. The confrontation underscored Brazil's capacity to threaten the United Provinces beyond the primary theater of operations in the Banda Oriental, though the recorded outcome of the engagement remains unclear.
