The Battle of Blore Heath, fought at Blore Heath in Staffordshire during the Wars of the Roses, saw a Yorkist force under the Earl of Salisbury, accompanied by Thomas and John Neville, engage a Lancastrian army roughly twice its size under Baron Audley and Baron Dudley. Despite the numerical disparity — 5,000 Yorkist troops against approximately 10,000 Lancastrians — the Yorkists inflicted greater casualties than they sustained, with Lancastrian losses recorded at around 2,000 against Yorkist losses of approximately 1,000. The engagement was one of the significant early field confrontations of the Wars of the Roses, demonstrating that Yorkist forces could hold and defeat numerically superior Lancastrian armies in open battle.
