Battle context

The Battle of Apóstoles brought together Luso-Brazilian forces under Francisco das Chagas Santos and the Artiguist forces of Andrés Guazurary, known as Andresito, in the context of the Portuguese Conquest of the Banda Oriental. The engagement placed Misiones-based Liga de los Pueblos Libres troops, numbering around 800 under Guazurary, in direct confrontation with Portuguese imperial expansion into the region. Beyond identifying the opposing commanders and the general setting, the outcome of the battle is not recorded, limiting what can be said about its effect on the broader campaign.
