The Battle of Anholt was a Danish-Norwegian attempt to retake Anholt, a small island off Jutland that British forces had seized in 1809. The British garrison under James Wilkes Maurice successfully repelled the assault led by Jørgen Conrad de Falsen, preserving continued British control of the island. The engagement was part of the Gunboat War, the broader conflict between the United Kingdom and Denmark-Norway that ran alongside the Napoleonic Wars.
